This letter to the Editor was published in the Daily Journal on March 3, 2020. It was written in response to the apparent ascension of Bernie Sanders to the Democratic Nomination after his early primary wins in 2020. Sanders seemingly unstoppable momentum, knocking out many mainstream Democratic candidates, suggested to me that socialism was no longer a fringe idea but quickly finding its way into mainstream acceptance and thus propelled me to speak my mind.
To whom it concerns, I am not a “boomer,” I am just a Gen X’er, and I am not going to lay down and let you millennial’s hand to me and my children a socialist government. Absolutely not. Not without a fight.
